Well, yet another week in Paradise...or better said, in Paraguay. This week we had a lot of fun and FINALLY, we are seeing a bit more progress. This week started out and we were very frustrated with Lidia and ready to leave her behind, and we made plans. Then we got to her house and she had cake and hot chocolate waiting.... How do you tell a woman that you can't visit her anymore because she isn't following the commandments when she gives you cake and has had hot chocolate waiting three hours for your arrival??? Ay ay ay! Haha, so, we told her that faith without works is dead and that she HAS TO COME TO CHURCH! (Getting people to come to church could be compared to pulling teeth, cleaning toilets with your toothbrush, and even hitting your head against the wall...all painful in one way or another, but sometimes necessary.) But...SHE CAME!!! She made comments, she bore her testimony, and she told everyone when she was going to be baptized. There is hope, and God´s hand is in all, even cake and hot coco! Rufino also came to church, but I feel so overwhelmed, I have no clue how to help the poor man leave smoking. We're overwhelmed, he´s overwhelmed...and we´re all a bit stuck. Suggestions?
Alberto also came to church...another big surprise! We definitely weren't expecting him, but he is also excited for his baptism (that could happen in less than two weeks now!)
Remember when I told you all about the sugar cane trucks lined up.... Well don't tell anyone, but we may have robbed a loose stalk or two to eat in our house. No one saw, because no one leaves their house...#1. Because it's cold, but #2. Even bigger....it's the World Cup! And in South America...it's huge! We can't even get them to turn off their TV's.....and my companion.... Poor girl...is still suffering... SHE LIVES FOR SOCCER. It's killing her! Haha, she creepily looks into people's windows as we pass on the streets to see what is happening in the game! Haha, Missionary Life....!
