Life is Full of Little Miracles!

Monday, January 20, 2014

Please apologize to everyone else, I am writing one email and no more so I can give you all the details of life in Paraguay.

Querido Familia! I am doing well, lots of stress, but I think it's a good thing, haha! Everyone in our district is sick right now with the exception of us. We are healthy as horses. We have been walking and talking and teaching together for 5 weeks now. Transfers are next week, but I am pretty sure we will stick together and stay in Lambare. We have found lots of less active members lately, and it has been really different to see their reasons for leaving and the depth of their desire to return. This Friday we had a lesson with a man, and when we have men to teach we have to have a woman present or we can't teach. So we had called Hermana Ana Figuredo who is 45ish and has a son of her own on a mission. She told us that she couldn't help but that her Mom could. Her mom is an absolute doll! We call her Mama Figuredo and she is almost 82! Very few members have cars, them included, and we warned her that it was a long walk. She told us that she could out walk us and that it didn't matter! (I told you she´s great!) Anyway, we started walking and our investigator called to cancel, but we knew of another part member family that lived close, so off we went. Two sister missionaries and grandma in between... At times I wasn't sure if she was going to make it, but she hung in there and talked our ears off while we were at it. One of her daughters lives in Utah, another is Ana, and she has another that lives in our ward that is AMAZING and cooks the best bread! (Almost as great as Great Grandma Thacker-NO offense intended to other bread makers!) One of her sons is a ....... don't remember the word in English.... guy that builds houses. She was telling us that he was finishing a job and didn't have anything lined up for after. Anyway, we talked about all this while walking. We got to their house and had a nice lesson on prayer and the Sabbath day. Anyway, afterwards, out of the blue, the Dad asked if we knew anyone that builds houses? (Sorry, still don't remember the word in English... contactor?) Anyway, it was perfect! Mama Figuredo was able to pass on the name of her son and they are going to come to church this Sunday. There certainly are blessings in missionary work! Haha, yesterday was another funny story. We left an hour before church to bring investigators. We were returning to the church, but were still a long, long way aways, about a 30 minute walk, and church was supposed to start in 5 minutes..... ahhhh! Anyway, in my mind I was praying for a miracle, some way to get to church on time. Then, I looked over and saw a taxi... Random in this part of Lambaré but turned out that it was a less active family!!!!! The dad is a taxi driver. It was perfect, they offered us a ride and we got to the church before the meeting started. No, we didn't get there at nine, but the Mormons of Lambaré are like mormons everywhere and nothing starts on time, haha! Life is full of little miracles, but every one helps me. I love you all. I didn't read your emails, so I am sorry if you had questions. I wanted to send you pictures. Love ya tons and miss you every day!

This is my friend, Arami. She is 8 years old and we are besties!
Uhmmmmm, this is a batch of brownies that I forgot about.....!
This is Noelia and her sister, they are proud recipients
of CTR rings! They love them! Their mother is a member,
but their father isn't so they are not allowed to attend church.
They love the BOM and read it faithfully.
Hermana Thacker doesn't say what this picture is about, but
hopefully it isn't caused by her new miracle shoes! Crocs..!
