Exploring Guarambare!

Monday, May 5, 2014

It is a blessing and a curse to be in Guarambare... There are people riding horses and herding cows everywhere.....haha! IT'S HORRIBLE! Thanks for the letters. They make my day. Yes, I will be calling for Mother's Day... I AM SO EXCITED! I am freaking out that I'm already half way.... I feel like I don't know anything yet. Hermana Boley only has 6 months in the mission, she came with Hermana Puma, but she´s a spiritual giant and I am learning so much. Not to brag, but this week we taught 31 lessons... WOOOH WHOOO! And two blondes...It's an adventure!

This week has been a crazy blast! We just finished playing futbol for our district activity. I may have forgot to mention that my companion has a full-ride scholarship to Idaho State to play soccer.... Yep! I wasn't much competition, haha! It's been super fun in this district because Hermana Urie is in Ita, a town in our Zone. The Elders are also crazy, so we have a good time. The Elders in Guarambare are great. I have baking contests with one that is from Chili, and the other Elder is from Vegas. He reminds me so much of Blake Thompson... His face never changes and he says things so random that I about die laughing. Today he was wearing the ugliest socks you have ever seen. No one said anything, but in the middle of a silent moment he piped up to say that his socks were a gift from his Grandpa... Then his companion piped up and said that they were actually a curse from his Grandpa! Maybe you had to be there, but I about died! Anyway, on to more important business. This week Hermana Boley and I decided that we needed to go explore. So after lunch one day we headed out into the unknown. For the first long while we just passed sugar field after sugar field, but everyone had told us that eventually we would find people...so we kept going! And we did find people, haha! It was really neat to see more country. We ended up contacting a little village and then continuing on. As we passed a man working with his ox cart, we asked if there were more people farther out and he told us there were tons...so we kept going. I figure from one end of our area to the other is about 14 kilometers, so we weren't real worried about running out of area. Anyway, we came to a river that passes through the road. There was a bridge, but with the rain we have received the river was a lot wider. (Not fast or deep. Knee deep!) Anyway, my companion has leather shoes...and we wanted to keep going...and we couldn't see anyone for a large distance...so she hopped on my back and off we went!!

AHHH, I had spiritual experiences to share...but times up! Sorry!! Until SUNDAY!!!! I love and miss you and I'll see you in a week!
